Welcome to

The Royal Oak is a charming 19th century pub in the village of River near Dover in Kent. Formed from 18th century flint cottages we have been serving the village for over 150 years. A friendly warm welcome compliments our range of real ales, lagers, ciders and stout. From a morning coffee or hot chocolate to a late night spirit we will look after you. Come read the papers, enjoy a cool beer on a sunny afternoon in the garden or a warming cask ale in front of the fire on a winter's night. Whatever you prefer we hope to see you soon.

About Us

We are a family orientated pub so we are both dog and child friendly (ask for our dog treats!). Round the back of our pub we have a pub garden for those warmer days. If it is a bit nippier we have a couple of wood-burning stoves beside which you can enjoy an evening drink. We also have free & fast wi-fi for everyone to use & a daily paper to read

Wide Selection of Drinks

We have a wide range of drinks on offer including 3 regular real ales such as Adnams Ghostship and Adnams Broadside. A monthly guest ale compliments our regular range & is usually from local breweries such as Romney Marsh or Breakwater. Our cider on tap is Orchard View and we have Guinness for stout drinkers. Our three lagers are Kronenbourg 1664, Whitstable Bay Blonde and Fosters. With gins we can offer a wide range including Warner Edwards Rhubarb, Elderflower or Honeybee. Other brands are Gordon's Pink, Bombay Sapphire, Beefeater & Anno Kent Dry. Additionally we offer a full range of wines and sell every one by the glass as well as by the bottle

The Royal Oak has a full refurbishment and the upper parts are converted to Bed & Breakfast rooms
